Each of us must have something that were good at. Each of us must have something to offer. And we must discover what that is. This is what an education can do to help us.

Maybe one day, we could be a great writer, but we might not know it until we write an essay in our language class.Maybe one day, we could be an inventor, but we might not know it until we do our project in our science class.

And no matter what we want to do with our life, I believe that we need a good education for every single one of those careers. We cannot drop out of school and just drop into a good job. We need to practice for it and learn from it.

And this is not only important for our life and our future. What we do to our education will determine the future of this country. The future of Indonesia depends on us.

We need the knowledge and problem-solving skills we learn in science and math to cure diseases like cancer and AIDS, and to develop new energy technologies, and protect our environment.

We need the insights and critical thinking skills we gain in history class to fight poverty, crime and discrimination, and make our nation more peaceful.

We need the creativity we develop in all our classes to build new companies, that will create new jobs and boost our economy.

If we dont study, if we quit our school, were not only quitting on ourselves, but were also quitting on our country.

I know its not always easy to do well in school. I know what its like. I know a lot of us have problems in their lives right now that can make it hard to focus on our school work. I get it.

Maybe your parents cant give you the support that you need. Maybe you get inappropriate behavior at school. Maybe you dont like subjects that you study. Maybe you dont click with teachers that teach you. Also, maybe not all homework assignments seem relevant to your life right now. And maybe you dont always succeed at everything the first time you try.

It doesnt matter. Most successful people in the world got failures before they got success. Where you are right now doesnt always determine where you will be later. You are the one who makes your own future.

So if you get into trouble, that doesnt mean youre a troublemaker. It just means you need to try harder to act right.

If you get a bad grade, that doesnt mean youre stupid. It just means you need to spend more time studying.

No one is born being good at all things. We become good at things because of hard work. We are not a number one athlete in the first time we play a new sport. We dont speak smoothly the first time we learn a new language. We need to practice.

Dont be afraid to ask questions or help when you need it. Asking for help doesnt mean you are weak, but it shows you are strong enough to admit when you dont know something, and then, allows you to learn something new.

There is a phrase that I like very much and I find it very true. If the people of a country care about education, it shows that they love their nation. It is said that in order for a country to prosper it needs education, but why?

The honorable audience, we study not to go to the graduation ceremony and hang our picture on the wall of our house, much less to show off to our friends. We study to practice and to acquire knowledge, and those two then will prepare us for the real life situation. Education brings us too many benefits, such as confidence in ourselves, freedom to decide, conscience as a whole, help us to improve ourselves, to feel fulfilled, to feel that we are something in life and that we have an end for which to live. But this is not the only satisfaction that education gives us, but with it we achieve a better quality of life; When we want to buy a dress, shoes, food, or anything else, we need a work, which currently is not so easy to find and less so if we dont have an adequate education.

It is said that the future of our country is in the hands of the children and as the children in this country, we must try hard to achieve that. That is why today I invite all the audiences here to reflect on the importance of education. We have to take advantage of this chance to be able to go to school to study. We must appreciate the effort that our parents make to send us to school, and think that there are many children who would like to study but for some reason they can not do it.

Finally, ask ourselves: without effort and education, how do we want to improve ourselves? How do we want to live better? In short, how do we want a better country?. Therefore, education is an important part of our life as well as an essential part to develop a better future for the country. So this is the end of my speech today. I hope some of the points that I have conveyed today make us appreciate our chance to be educated at school and make us study more diligently for both our countrys and our own future.
